It is possible to see the big five in Malawi as well as a splendid range of antelope and smaller cats such as caracal and serval. Hippos are abundant here whilst the variety of fish, some 600 species, is extraordinary and Malawi’s birdlife is renowned.

The other main attraction is Lake Malawi, Africa’s third largest lake, previously known as Lake Nyasa. The lake is often known as the ’Lake of Stars’ and is noted for its variety of cyclid fish.
